Description
Scotch on the Rocks Villa, nicknamed 'Scotchie', is located near the Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios and sits on a rise overlooking Sandy Bay. This villa is nestled within lush, orchid filled gardens overlooking the sea. This is one of the most unique luxury Caribbean villas, originally built by the Scottish lord, Earl of Mansfield in the 1950's. The villa has beautiful, new travertine flooring throughout the first floor and original, highly polished mahogany floors upstairs. The lovely living room opens onto a spacious outdoor covered verandah with comfortable cushioned seating and beautiful hardwood lounge chairs. There is an indoor dining room seating eight, and outdoor dining area, seating up to eighteen, overlooking the pool and ocean. The first floor has an air-conditioned indoor television room, and an outdoor covered game room, ideal for playing cards or board games. The TV room can convert into a fifth bedroom.
The bedrooms at Scotch on the Rocks Villa are beautifully furnished in Jamaican mahogany furniture, antiques, and original art pieces. As with finer luxury Caribbean villas, the bedrooms are all air-conditioned and offer spectacular private baths, with porches looking out to the mesmerizing sea. All are dressed with fine bed linens, duvets and down pillows. The upstairs bedrooms have large louvered doors which open to their own private outdoor porches, giving the rooms a splendid tropical feel. The master bedroom has a king size bed, sitting area, antique writing desk, and a furnished outdoor porch. Separate dressing room and large bath with shower and bidet. The bathroom has a travertine stone floor and natural stone countertops. The second bedroom has a queen size bed and lovely antique writing desk. There is also a charming side porch with a sea view, and completely new bathroom.
The luxurious third bedroom has a queen size bed, with a magnificent full bath. The fourth bedroom opens to the verendah and has an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. The well-appointed fifth bedroom is located in a private cottage attached to the villa. Not only is Scotch on the Rocks Villa able to host such deluxe bedrooms, but is also surrounded by multi level terraces. The upper terrace is covered for dining and outdoor seating, the lower terrace has a fresh water pool and chaise lounges with luxurious cotton cushions. The pool and verandah both have hidden speakers for outdoor music. There are lighted steps down through the rocks to a large dock with gazebo that gives access to a gorgeous sandy swimming area in crystal clear water. The entrance is close to steps that are positioned to lead into the water that is approximately one foot deep with a sandy bottom. The swimming area is all sand bottom and ranges from 5 to 10 feet in depth.
