Description
Located in the hills of Umbria on a 1,500 acre estate full of trailed forests for trekking; and with lakes, gardens and even a natural reserve, The Abbey is immersed in natural beauty. The villa is only a short distance from Perugia, the capitol city of Umbria where the International Journalism Festival is held in April, the Eurochocolate Festival is held in October and the Umbria Jazz Festival is hosted in July. The estate is also within convenient driving distance of Assisi and Cortona.
Ancient street lights illuminate the exterior of the estate where fruit trees, a botanical garden, a kitchen garden and a manicured flower garden inspire a relaxing atmosphere. An ancient well can be found in the medieval courtyard in the center of the estate. This courtyard is surrounded by lemon trees. The infinity edged salt water swimming pool is close by and overlooks the Umbrian countryside.
This 11th century Abbey has been carefully restored to ensure comfort and relaxation while conserving the original framework, lovely wood beamed ceilings and terracotta floorings. The estate is even decorated with charming antiques.
A dining veranda on the ground floor of the villa overlooks the Tiber Valley and the gardens. The fully equipped kitchen is nearby. The ground floor also offers a bar and a studio.
The first floor of The Abbey has a comfortable living room. A terrace furnished with couches is located on the second floor. There is even a medieval tavern on the lower ground floor for guests to enjoy. The estate offers a church perfect for social gatherings and events. Rebuilt in the XVII century, the church displays gorgeous high vaulted ceilings and seats up to 70 people. The frescoed wooden landing that is devoted to Saint Quirico once held a pipe organ.
The estate has seven bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and lovely views. Two bedrooms are located on the ground floor of The Abbey and three are located on the upper floor. These rooms feature queen sized beds. The remaining bedrooms are located on the first floor of the sacristy, across the courtyard. The first room has a queen sized bed and the second has one queen bed and one twin sized bed.
